About Math League
The Math League Cup Competition (Math League) is the most influential mathematics contest for elementary and secondary school students in the United States and North America. The inaugural competition was held in 1977 and has since been held continuously for 41 editions, attracting over one million participants annually from around the globe. The contest aims to help students understand, appreciate, and enjoy mathematics while simultaneously enhancing their bilingual proficiency in English and math, as well as strengthening their logical thinking skills. Over 70% of the top 100 high schools in North America participate in this competition, and it enjoys exceptionally high recognition among elite American high schools, which actively encourage students to take part and achieve outstanding results.
Competition Categories and Exam Schedule
Grades 4/5 Competition: Held in: Mid-April each year;Format: 30 multiple-choice questions, 30-minute time limit;Scoring: Maximum score of 30 points (1 point per correct answer, 0 points for unanswered or incorrect answers)
Grades 6/7/8 Competition: Held in: Late February each year;Format: 35 multiple-choice questions, 30-minute time limit; Scoring: Maximum score of 35 points (1 point per correct answer, 0 points for unanswered or incorrect answers)
